Q. How are long distance calls free?   Top
A. There are two ways to take advantage of free long distance.

  1. To call anywhere in the world for free both parties need to have True VoIP. All True VoIP -to- True VoIP call are free regardless of where they are in the world.

  2. You can get long distance free by choosing our True VoIP Advance Package (some limitations apply)

Q. How is True VoIP different from my current local line?   Top
A. True VoIP is a new digital technology that allows you to use your existing internet service to make and receive regular phone calls. You will enjoy enhanced services like call waiting, visual call waiting, and call forwarding just like traditional phone companies offer. All you need is a High Speed Internet connection and our free True VoIP Connect Box and you can start saving immediately.

Q. Is True VoIP available for residential and businesses?   Top
A. Absolutely. True VoIP is available for your home, and business. Businesses can enjoy the ease of increasing lines and services in minutes. Need and extra line for a new employee? Now instead of weeks, it takes minutes. Also add phone numbers from different cities to give your company a national presence.

Q. Does True VoIP work with all High Speed Internet connections?      Top
A. Yes. DSL, DSL Lite or Cable modem.

Q. I have a DSL Lite or Cable High Speed Lite/Ultra Lite service.    Top
A. True VoIP was designed to work on all internet connections (except dial-up) but we recommend that you have "full" high speed internet (1-3 Megs) for your True VoIP service. "Lite" services will in most cases support your True VoIP but your quality will degrade when you start to browse and download from the internet.  This is why we recommend the "full" high-speed internet services.

Q. Can I use your service over the dial-up Internet connection?     Top
A. No, True VoIP will not work with Dial-up Internet.

Q. Can I transfer my current phone number to True VoIP?   Top
A. Yes you can. Contact Cybernet Sales Office and request transfer of phone number. The transfer is easy, while in process you will be given a temporary true VoIP number so you can enjoy your phone service while the phone company makes the switch.  It usually takes 20-30 days from the time you submit an order. Once the transfer is complete your old phone number will land on the True VoIP phone. You will no longer be billed from your old phone company. Transfer is only available in True VoIP serving territory.

Q. What do you mean by "selecting your area code"?    Top
A. As a Cybernet Treu VoIP customer you are not limited to the local area code of the place you live any more. You can select most major area codes in Canada or the USA. For example you live in Toronto but your mother lives in Montreal, you can select a 514 number so that she can call you for Free.

Q. Is 911 or 411 available?   Top
A. Cybernet True VoIP 911 works through a third party that answers your emergency calls and then dispatches the authorities. We encourage you to log on-line to the True VoIP web portal to complete the 911 registration.  411 at the present time is not available.

Q. Can I get multiple phone lines?    Top
A. You can have as many lines as you wish. Each True VoIP Box supports 2 lines and you can stack as many True VoIP as you like.

Q. Do I need to know a lot about computers to use this service?   Top
A. No. Cybernet True VoIP is very easy to install and you will use the same telephone or cordless phone that you would normally use with your local telephone company. If you need assistance we have tech support available at www.mycybernet.net/support

Q. What do I need to use Cybernet True VoIP?   Top
A. The only things you need to have are a High Speed Internet service (Cable or DSL) and a standard telephone. We recommend a cordless phone. Cybernet will provide the additional equipment required (True VoIP Kit) to set up and use Treu VoIP (Additional Cost may apply).

Q. When will my Cybernet True VoIP start to work?   Top
A. Your Cybernet True VoIP Kit will arrive in within 6 days. You can install and start using it in minutes.

Q. Do I need to turn my computer on to use True VoIP?   Top
A. No, Cybernet True VoIP does not require a computer. However, Cybernet True VoIP allows you to talk and surf the Internet at the same time.

Q. Can I keep the service if I move?    Top
A. Yes, if you or your business move, you can keep your service and your phone number. You just need to have a High Speed Internet connection at your new location.

Q. Can I keep the service if I travel?    Top
A. Yes, you can take the True VoIP Kit with you.

Q. Can I use a fax with True VoIP service?     Top
A. In most cases the answer is Yes.  The success is related to your internet speed connection, its quality and your fax machine.  A fax requires 64K to function and many internet connection (Lite & Ultra Lite) variations do not provide constant speeds that a fax needs.  We recommend that you have "full" high speed internet (1-3 Megs) for faxing.  Your fax machine also plays a factor in its compatibility with internet based telephone services.  There is no adjustment to be done on our part.  You will just need to try.

Q. How do I make a call?     Top
A. To make a local call Just d ial area code + number
Long Distance 1+ area code + number
International 011 + country code + city code + number

Q. How do I make a 3-way call?
1. Dial your first party as you normally would.
2. Once connected, press the Flash Button or Switch Hook on your phone and dial the second party.
3. After the second party is connected, press the Flash Button or Switch Hook again and you will all be connected.

Q. What is considered a local call?     Top
A. We use a North American standard that all traditional phone companies use. If for example you have a Toronto 416 area code, and are not sure if a call to Thornhill is long distance, you may consult of our Local Area Guide. It will list all the areas the we cover as part of your Local Calling Guide. Calls out side this area will incur charges.

Q. Will True VoIP work with my Alarm?    Top
A. If you plan on using True VoIP as your primary phone service you will need to have your alarm company connect your alarm system to the True VoIP.  They will need to program the alarm panel to use SIA format and Cybernet will need to make a modification in your account to support this service.  If your alarm company is unable to help you we recommend you call Absolute Total Security who specialize in VoIP integrations: 416-663-1234.
